VDA 6.3 is a widely applicable standard in the automotive industry when planning and conducting audits of production processes. VDA 6.3:2023 was released in January 2023, replacing its previous version from 2016. The new version of VDA 6.3 has some pretty significant changes.

- The classification system (A, B, C) for overall assessment
- The Individual Question Assessment Model (10-8-6-4-0)
- The application of process elements P2-P7
- The turtle diagram model
- The rules for downgrading in the overall assessment
What are the main changes in VDA 6.3:2023?
- Items related to the software are covered in the questionnaire
- Harmonization with VDA Automotive SPICE® and VDA MLA methods
- Requirements on purchasing activities have been added to P3 and P4
- Specifying the qualifications of the auditor
- Added notes on conducting remote audits
- Chapter 4 "Audit Process" has been deleted (as its content is in ISO 19011)
- Chapter 8 "Service Provider Process Audit" deleted (will be included in a separate VDA 6.8 document)
- Section 10 "Best Practices/Lessons Learned" has been removed
- The evaluation of transport and handling of parts (Eu7) is omitted
- The glossary has been transferred to a comprehensive online VDA QMC glossary
